See Concept Art for Halo 5's Next DLC Map, More Weapons Revealed

10 months after launch, Halo 5 is still getting free DLC; more details on next add-on coming this week.

More Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer DLC is on the way. And while 343 Industries is not ready just yet to talk specifics about it, the studio has been teasing it for a while through its weekly blog posts--and this week was no different. In this week's blog post, 343 showed off some concept art for one of the new maps coming to the Xbox One shooter through a future, presumably free, update.

The concept art below is for a new Halo 5 DLC map for Arena. It remains to be seen if the update will include any new Warzone or Warzone Firefight maps. The blog post is titled "Preview of Autumn" but it's not clear if that's the name of the map, the update, or something else.

It sounds like 343 is nearly ready to start talking in a more official capacity about the DLC.

"These places are nearly ready to be revealed, as the multiplayer and test teams carefully examine each nook, cranny, corner, crevice, power position, weapon pad, and many more map-py things that are included on the long list appropriately labeled 'things to examine,'" the developer said.

The new DLC, like the other expansions that came before it, will also include more Reqs in the form of weapons, skins, and attachments, among other things. The first of these have now been announced and include the Gunfighter Magnum, the Landgrave BR, and the Landgrave Magnum. You can see these in the gallery below, while more details are available at Halo Waypoint.

"There's also another weapon skin set coming in this update, and I do believe there is at least one other person who will be quite stoked about them as well. In due time…" 343 teased.

343's Jon Hathaway said about it, "The [REDACTED] is by far my favorite weapon in this next update. The Ultra Rare variant is crazy good at taking down Wasps, Banshees and Phaetons. It feels so badass hauling around a [REDACTED] on the battlefield."

More details on Halo 5's next DLC will be announced this coming week.

In July, 343 said Halo 5--many months after release--continued to grow its userbase and topple franchise records, which may explain why the studio is continuing to support the game. In other news about Halo, the new Halo-themed Xbox One S console goes on sale later this month.

Additionally, Halo 5 is getting a file browser on Xbox One and PC (when the Forge tools are released for Windows 10). Here is a work-in-progress version of what it will look like:

Halo 5's other expansions included The Battle of Shadow and Light (November), Cartographer's Gift (December), Infinity's Armor (January), Hammer Storm (February), Ghosts of Meridian (April), Memories of Reach (May), Hog Wild (May), and Warzone Firefight (June).
