The New Batman Movie Casts Its Deathstroke

Joe Manganiello will play Deathstroke.

After a tease that Deathstroke would be in the next Batman movie, we've now learned who will play the role.

Joe Manganiello will be behind the mask, DC Entertainment boss Geoff Johns confirmed (via the Wall Street Journal). In recent years, Manganiello is best known for his roles on How I Met Your Mother, True Blood, and the Magic Mike movies. He also has experience getting beaten up by superheroes in movies, having played Flash Thompson in 2002's Spider-Man.

Ben Affleck, who will direct and star in a new Batman movie following his appearance in the upcoming Justice League, recently shared a video (below) of someone in a Deathstroke outfit. This led to speculation that Deathstroke would be the bad guy in Affleck's new film, a prospect that was subsequently confirmed by a later report.

We still don't know, however, if the footage shown was from the new Batman or Justice League, which Deathstroke could conceivably have a cameo in. Johns declined to say whether or not there are plans for that.

Justice League releases in theaters in November 2017, with the Batman movie coming no sooner than 2018.
