Forza Horizon 3 DLC Pass Announced, Adds to Ultimate Edition's Content

With Forza Horizon 3's official release right around the corner, Microsoft today announced an expansion pass for the Australia-set Xbox One and PC racing game.

The $35 pass comes with two expansions, the first of which will debut this holiday. No details about either expansion were divulged. Microsoft also confirmed that people who buy the $100 Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition can get the expansion pass for $25 if they buy it before the end of 2016.

As announced previously, Forza Horizon 3's Ultimate Edition comes with a series of extras, including the Car Pass, the Motorsport All-Stars Car pack, and a VIP membership. These unlock things like more cars and events, among other things. As detailed on Microsoft's website, the Car Pass goes for $30 by itself, while the All-Stars pack sells for $10. A VIP membership sells for $20 on its own.

Other Forza Horizon 3 add-ons include the Treasure Map ($3), which reveals the location of special items, as well as the Horn Accelerator ($3); this gives you immediate access to all the novelty car horn sounds in the game. These are not included with the Ultimate Edition or the DLC pass.

People who own the Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition can start playing right now, a full four days ahead of the game's official release on September 27. The game is Microsoft's first to support high dynamic range on Xbox One S, but not the first overall, as the already-available NBA 2K17 also does.

You don't have to buy the Ultimate Edition to play Forza Horizon 3 right now, as a demo (that doesn't feature HDR support) is available now on Xbox One that will come to PC sometime after launch. In other news about the game, people on PC are reporting issues pre-loading the game.
